Moin Valli Shortlisted for Entrepreneur of the Year
Valli Opticians managing director, Moin Valli, has been shortlisted for the prestigious title of Entrepreneur of the Year in the Halifax Courier Business Awards.
Moin, 36, founded the Valli Group in 2005 when he was 27. Starting with three Optical practices in 2005, and a team of 8 staff, the group has grown remarkably to six practices today with 22 staff, plus a domiciliary eye care business and a corporate eye care business.
Moin said: “I was delighted to hear that I’d been shortlisted for the awards. My goal is to position the Valli Group as the leading independent Opticians across West Yorkshire and eventually beyond, offering professional eye care and outstanding service in our local communities. Along with my team I’m working hard to achieve this through the acquisition of further practices, growth of current practices, business development, extensive financial investment in our staff development and training.
“It’s also important to me to help put optics on the map and promote the profession within non-traditional areas for example through links with industries in fields including engineering.”
Moin added that the Valli Group had invested heavily in technology, optical equipment and refurbishment. The Group has equipment including the Intuitive Colorimeter and OCT. It also offers a dedicated dry eye treatment programme.
The Valli Group also plays a strong role in the communities in which its practices are based. Moin regularly delivers talks at local schools and community groups to raise the awareness of eye health. The Group has also hosted charity events to raise money for chosen charity the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, including the Valli Rally charity walk in August.
The winners in all categories of the Halifax Courier Business Awards 2013 will be announced in a glittering ceremony at the town’s Shay Stadium on November 14.
