Time for a cuppa?
Dementia UK “Time for a Cuppa” week is running from 1st to 8th March and we at Valli Group and AH Merton Group are doing our bit. The Valli Opticians Group regularly highlight the importance of eye care for people with the condition. Dementia patients are often unable to tell anyone they have a problem with their eyes. So it’s vital that they have access to eye care services, be that by visiting a community practice, or if they are confined to their own home or care home, through our Domiciliary eye care service. Throughout this week all our branches are inviting customers, old and new, to join them and make “Time for a Cuppa” to help raise some money to provide specialist Admiral Nurses to families who are dealing with dementia.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses, they give expert practical, clinical and emotional support to those families who are living with dementia, helping them to cope with the many challenges this disease presents.
The Admiral Nurses are all registered nurses, with significant experience of working with people with dementia. Most of them work for the NHS within the community and they help people with dementia to stay at home for longer. They also work in other settings including care homes, hospitals and hospices.
Many of our practices will be hosting a tea party during “Time for a Cuppa” week, so if you want to come and join us and support a very good cause, call into your local Valli Group Opticians.
