Valli Group Wins National Optician Award
West Yorkshire based Opticians the Valli Group is celebrating after winning the Business Excellence category in the national Optician Awards 2013 on Saturday.
The Valli Group, which has six optical practices across Huddersfield and Calderdale, competed against strong competition in the category and was announced winner in a glittering ceremony in Birmingham.
Valli Group Managing Director Moin Valli said: “We are absolutely delighted to win the award. Our fantastic team really deserves it and this award is recognition of their hard work. Our goal is to position the Valli Group as the leading independent Opticians across West Yorkshire and eventually beyond, offering professional eye care and outstanding service in our local communities. We’re working hard to achieve this through the acquisition of further practices, growth of current practices, business development, extensive financial investment in our staff development and training. We were shortlisted along with some other fantastic optician businesses so I’m very humbled to win and honoured to be recognised by industry peers.”
News of winning the award comes just five months after Moin was named Young Business Person of the Year in the Huddersfield Daily Examiner Business Awards.
Moin, 35, and his wife Rachel, founded the Valli Group in 2005. They now have a portfolio of six independent optical practices across Huddersfield and Calderdale with a team of 25 staff, a domiciliary business, which provides eye care to elderly and disabled patients who are unable to visit their local practice and a corporate eye care business to look after corporate clients.
The Valli Group has invested heavily in technology, optical equipment and refurbishment spending almost £400k in the last six years.
Moin added: “On the same day as winning the award we had made further investment into latest technology by ordering two Topcon Maestro 3-D Optical Coherence Tomographers. This takes eye care to another level and will allow us to see a lot more than the standard eye test by scanning the layers of the back of the eye.
“All our investment enables us to offer our patients modern, high quality practices with traditional values of the very best in customer service. We want our patients to enjoy the whole experience of having their eyes looked after by a caring, customer focused organisation. People can experience a ‘café culture’ within our practices: relaxed, attentive and an altogether enjoyable experience with complimentary hot drinks.”
The Valli Group also plays a strong role in the communities in which its practices are based. Moin regularly delivers talks at local schools and community groups to raise the awareness of eye health.
Alongside this the Group offers a service to sufferers of dyslexia and visual stress which enhances their reading ability, a dedicated dry eye service and specialist services in corporate, safety and sports eye wear.
