The award winning family-run opticians, which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year, has many brass band connections. Several staff members play musical instruments and are members of local brass bands. Valli Opticians is the latest sponsor of Huddersfield-based Brass Factor, an organisation which promotes the cultural heritage of Yorkshire and the brand band movement.

Established in 2005 by Moin and Rachel Valli, the Valli group has branches in Huddersfield, Wakefield and Hull as well as Hebden Bridge.

Albert Tucker, Mrs Valli’s grandfather, had a paint and decorators business in Hebden Bridge after World War II, so Mr Valli believes the opening of the new store feels like coming home.

Mr Valli said: “We have established roots in Calderdale and are looking forward to continuing to serve the residents of the Calder Valley and beyond at the new flagship store. We believe we are a bit like the people of Yorkshire in that we embrace traditional values and are big supporters of people shopping locally. We also believe the personal touch is vital and our staff go that extra mile to make sure our customers leave happy and satisfied.  We have invested in the latest technology ensuring the highest possible standard of eye care for the community “

The link between Valli and Brass Factor was also formed because a lot of brass band members have sight related issues and need regular checks to make sure they can read their music.

He added: “We are really excited about sponsoring Brass Factor because like us it is a fast growing Yorkshire company. We hope to create awareness in the music world about the importance of good eye health as well as spread the word about the enjoyment of brass bands.“

Retired Optometrist and local dignitary Pravin Mamtora opened the store on Saturday 20th June, and was accompanied by Moin Valli and Alexander Bray from The Brass Factor.
